Track and Field: Centerville's Pole Vault Trio
Having the deepest pole vault team in the state has its advantages and disadvantages. Centerville's trio of pole vaulters (senior Dave Sweeterman and juniors Nick Arnold/Bryan Miller) can all clear 14 feet. One disadvantage is that the Elks can only send two of their pole vaulters to the postseason, leaving one very talented athelte having to watch as his teammates compete at next week's district tournament. Second-year vault coach Scott Marquardt is mostly responsible for this leaping lunacy. It'll be his call on who jumps. Dayton Daily News

Timken's Johnie Davis, a furst-tean All-Ohio guard and Stark County boys basketball player of the year, has decided to become a Vincennes University Trailblazer.
