Baseball: New London Coach wins 300th

Glen Morse earned his 300th coaching victory Monday at New London as his Wildcats posted a 4-3 win over Plymouth in Firelands Conference play. Morse and New London have won at least 19 games each season since 2000 and he has a career record of 300-106 at New London and 313-116 overall. New London (9-3, 5-2) scored three times in the third to take a 3-1 lead, with the Big Red knotting the score with two in the top of the fourth. Sandusky Register


Baseball: Boys State Poll is Released

The Associated Press released their state baseball poll on Tuesday evening. A couple of Hilliard schools cracked the top 5 in Division I. Hilliard Davidson (No. 1) and Hilliard Darby (No. 5) are representing the Columbus-area well. Northeast Ohio is dominating the Division II poll as Cleveland Benedictine, Mentor Lake Catholic, Tallmadge, and Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit are the top 4 teams. Youngstown Ursuline (Division III) and Newark Catholic (Division IV) are also ranked No. 1 in their respective divisions. The Dispatch


University School Wins at Classic Park

The Indians' minor league team, the Lake County Captains, are hosting baseball games this week at Captains Stadium. On Tuesday, the University Preppers mercy-ruled Eastlake North 12-1. During the first three innings, the Preppers scored 11 runs. US left fielder Zach Persky had RBI singles in the first and second innings and drove in a run with a ground out in the third as the Preppers (3-8) staked starting pitcher Pat Shedlock to a huge early cushion. Softball: State Powers Battle

Lebanon (No. 10 in the Division I state poll) defeated Greenville (No. 3 in the same poll) 7-6 yesterday at Lebanon. Junior Alex Machen drove in the winning runs with a two-run homer to left-center in the sixth inning. The Warriors were down 6-1 before scoring the final six runs to defeat Greenville. Baseball: Canton Central Catholic Beats Central Christian

Two private schools in Canton stuck in a pitcher's duel ended with a 2-0 win by Central Catholic. Chris Snopel (14 K's in 6 2/3 innings) picked up the win as the Crusaders (14-0) remained undefeated. The lone Central Christian hit came on an infield single in the third inning. The Independent
