Football: Continuity in Coaching at Massillon Proves Difficult
There are no bigger high school coaching jobs in Ohio than the football position at Massillon. The recent departure of former head coach Tom Stacy to Green leaves Ohio's all-time winningest program searching once again for a new coach. Stacy had a very succesful three seasons at the helm, going 26-11 (including 3-1 against rival Canton McKInley) along with a state runner-up in 2005. One problem with hiring a head coach at Massillon is that the position is typically a stepping stone for a coaching position in the college game. Former Massillon and current Ashland head coach Lee Owens echoes the statement that it is tough to gain continuity in coaching at a place like Massillon. Since legendary coach Paul Brown's nine seasons in the 1930's, only Rick Shepas (1998-2004) has lasted more than six seasons as the Tiger's head coach. The Independent

Girls Basketball: Sandusky Perkins Duo Earns All-Ohio Honors
Sandusky Perkins seniors Cierra Bravard and Trisha Krewson were rewarded with plenty of recognition as the girls basketball All-Ohio teams came out last night. Bravard was named the Division II Player of the Year along with Ayana Dunning of Columbus Eastmoor Academy. Krewson was named to the second team All-Ohio. Bravard and Krewson helped the Lady Pirates capture a Sandusky Bay Conference crown and earn the Division II state poll championship. Unfortunately for Perkins, their season ended last Saturday as they fell to Lima Bath in the DII regional final at Ontario High School. Bravard, a 6-4 post who earned first-team All-Ohio as a junior, averaged 21.6 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Krewson averaged 15.9 points per game. Both will be playing at the Division I college level next season as Bravard is headed to Florida State and Krewson will be at Bucknell. The Sandusky Register
